Escape The Room at The Puzzle Effect

Escape The Room at The Puzzle Effect

About two miles or a five-minute drive from the apartments near Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, is The Puzzle Effect, a collection of various escape rooms and adventures. Escape rooms are fun but are also a learning opportunity disguised as an adult game of pretend you can play with your friends. For each room, you need a group of up to 8-10 people to complete the layered puzzles and escape the consequences of being left behind. The themes of each room are supposed to be unfamiliar to most people involved, to keep everyone on their toes:

In the Curse on the Emerald Seas, your group is commanding a ship that comes across the fabled ship, Emerald Seas. There are a lot of rumors about this magical ship, but one rumor is that the ship only comes to the surface for an hour at a time. Whoever remains on the ship after an hour is taken to the bottom of the ocean and drowned. Your mission is to find whatever it is on the ship that causes the curse and remove it before you all go down with the band.

Your group knows of an evil man who runs a magic bookshop. You know he is up to something, because he always is, and you learn that he has kidnapped a magical creature to use in a dramatic revenge plot. The mission is to sneak into the bookshop and rescue the creature before the damage is done. Can you do it, or will you be caught by the evil man and punished?

The theme of this room is steampunk and you must split your group into two even teams of engineers. It is your mission to keep the electricity on in the underground city. You have 60 minutes to either work cooperatively or head to head with your other group in order to complete the mission. Fix the subsystems in your section within the 60 minutes and you are free. Fail to do so and you remain underground in dystopia forever.

The Puzzle Effect is a walkable distance on a great day and you will become acquainted with other amenities available throughout the neighborhood. Please contact us at The Academy Chorro and we will answer any questions you may have about the apartment community and the surrounding area.
