As summer winds down into fall, the city of San Luis Obispo and the surrounding county will be hosting several celebratory events for the entire community. Check out these Saturday festivals coming up in August and September that support local businesses.
3RD ANNUAL DANCING IN THE STREETS
Located approximately 15 minutes north of San Luis Obispo is the city of Atascadero and on August 18th they will be hosting their 3rd annual Dancing in the Streets event. From 5 pm to 10 pm downtown Atascadero will be turned into a block party for the community to attend. Admission is completely free and guests will be met by live music, performances, and an antique car show throughout the downtown area as well as many diverse restaurant options such as Kochi Korean BBQ & Shabu Shabu, Bru Coffeehouse, and Thai Elephant. Bands include The Martin Paris Band, Burning James and the Funky Flames, Bear Market Riot, and Ricky Montijo.
LABOR DAY ART IN THE PARK
Spend a day on the coast at the Morro Bay City Park for Labor Day at the Art in the Park event. Located less than 20 minutes away from downtown San Luis Obispo, this event will feature the works of local artists and artisans available for purchase. You can visit the park between 10 am and 5 pm and then stop by one of the many restaurants in the area for a bite to eat. There are a variety of restaurants along the coast right next to the park such as House of Juju, Otter Rock Cafe, and Skipper's Brew Coffee House.
